Hello,
I'm Christopher Hood, owner of H&K Safety Services.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn a little about who I am and why I started this company.
Like many people in safety, transportation, and emergency services, I didn't arrive here through a straight line. My career has been shaped by years of working in transportation, industrial operations, military service, emergency response, and safety consulting. Along the way, I've learned that most organizations don't need more paperwork. They need practical solutions, clear expectations, and systems that actually work in the real world. That belief ultimately became the foundation of H&K Safety Services.
Over the years, I have participated in a wide variety of roles and industries. I've operated commercial trucks throughout the United States and Canada, worked in specialized transportation involving some of the most challenging and high-value cargo imaginable, participated in hazardous-material and environmental response operations, supported industrial safety initiatives, prepared organizations for audits, developed safety-management systems, and helped companies organize the programs they depend on every day.
In 2022, I started H&K Safety Services as a part-time consulting endeavor. Since then, H&K has grown to support more than 30 client engagements involving safety, compliance, transportation, emergency preparedness, workforce training, and operational readiness. Whether helping a motor carrier prepare for an audit, building a facility safety program, organizing driver qualification records, or assisting with emergency planning, my goal remains the same: help people solve problems and build systems they can sustain long after I'm gone.
I also spent 12 years serving in the Alabama Army National Guard, including an Operation Iraqi Freedom II deployment to Mosul, Iraq. That experience taught me lessons about accountability, preparation, teamwork, and leadership under pressure that continue to influence the way I approach every project today.
In addition, I have proudly served with the Moulton Fire Department for more than 25 years and advanced to the rank of Volunteer Lieutenant. That experience has given me a unique perspective on emergency preparedness, responder expectations, risk management, and the importance of planning before an emergency ever occurs.
The Part That Matters Most
While I care deeply about safety and compliance, the most important titles I hold are husband, dad, and granddaddy.
I have been happily married to my wife, Heather, for more than 23 years. Together we have been blessed with two children and one grandchild. My faith is an important part of who I am, and I am a member of the Moulton Church of Christ.
Family, faith, service, integrity, and treating people the right way are values that guide my personal life and my business.
Why H&K Exists
At H&K Safety Services, we believe safety and compliance should support the mission, not become the mission. We are based in Moulton, AL and work with organizations throughout North Alabama and beyond to improve safety, compliance, emergency preparedness, training, and operational readiness.
Our purpose is to help organizations create safer, stronger, and more compliant operations without losing sight of productivity, people, and common sense. We focus on practical solutions, clear roles, effective training, and systems that work in the field, the office, the shop, and during emergencies.
